Who provides Irlen services in Northland?

There are two types of Irlen practitioners, and understanding the difference will help you know what to book and when.

SCREENER

Checklist with a pen, showing checked items and a blank circle for an unchecked item.

Irlen Screeners are trained to carry out initial screening assessments. A screening is the starting point — it helps identify whether Irlen Syndrome is likely and whether a full diagnostic assessment is recommended. Screeners cannot carry out the full diagnostic process.

DIAGNOSTICIAN

Outline of a person's head facing a medical imaging device, representing a brain scan or MRI.

Irlen Diagnosticians are more extensively trained and can carry out both screening and full diagnostic assessments. The diagnostic asses-sment is the step that leads to precisely matched tinted lenses.
